Take your Georgia Road Test at Barber's Driving School

We can test everyday rain or shine.

Overview

Barber's Driving School, Inc., is licensed by the Georgia Department of Driver Services to administer the Georgia Road Test for its student graduates. To be eligible to take your Georgia Road Test at Barber’s Driving School, you must have completed one of our Driver Education Courses. In 2014, Barber’s Driving School administered approximately 1,000 Georgia Road Tests to its student graduates.

The Georgia Road Test will be conducted in our vehicle, with our insurance and fuel. We have many examiners who are licensed by the Georgia DDS to administer the test on our course. Many times, your driving instructor will be your examiner; however, it will depend on the time requested for the test and availability of the examiner.

If you fail, don't worry; the Georgia Department of Driver Services allows one more try with us, and we do not charge for the second test.

Once you have successfully completed a basic Teen or Adult Barber’s Driver Education Program 30/6, you may then take your Georgia Road Test with us.

Step 2 Schedule Your Georgia Road Test

If you have already completed all 30 hours of classroom and a minimum 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training offered in our Teen or Adult Driver Education Courses, you may schedule your Georgia Road Test.

If you are under the age of 18, you must have held your Learner’s Permit for a year and a day, and you will be testing for your Class D Intermediate Driver License. Georgia gives hold time credit for permits you may have held from other states.

Students 18 and over will be testing for their Class C full privilege Georgia Driver’s License. If you are 18 or over, there is no hold time period for your Georgia Learner’s Permit; however, every person applying for a Georgia Driver’s License for the first time must pass a Georgia written test before they can take the Georgia Road Test.

We test 7 days a week M-S between 8am-5pm. We require you to set up an appointment no later than 5pm on Thursday, the week before you want to test. Call Barber’s Driving School at 706-561-2509 to set up your appointment today.

Step 3 Taking the Test and Getting Your Georgia Driver's License

On test day, you must provide your own transportation to and from the school. You only need to bring your Learner’s Permit to take the test. If you have lost your permit and have a replacement Learner’s Permit that has an issue date that states you have had the permit less than one year and one day, you will need to bring a copy of your MVR showing the original issue date to the test. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign giving us permission to test you.  Click below to create an account on the Georgia DDS website and purchase your MVR. Print out the MVR and bring it with you on test day.

Purchase an MVR on the Georgia DDS website

The test generally takes 30 minutes or less, and, when you complete and pass, your examiner will issue you a Certificate of Passing and you take this Certificate along with the other documents listed below to any Georgia DDS Service Centers to actually pick up your Driver’s License. No appointment is needed to go to the DDS to obtain the physical license. DDS current hours of operation are 8am-6pm M-F and 8am-12noon on Sat., DDS is CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays. The Georgia DDS operating hours are subject to change, so please call the Georgia DDS Service number to verify DDS locations and times of operation. 678-413-8400.
