PEACE OF MIND.

Barber's offers you the peace of mind knowing you have invested in the very best Drivers Education Program that money can buy.

SAVE LIVES, TIME, AND MONEY

Barber's driver education program consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of private behind-the-wheel instruction.

The 30 hours of classroom instruction is taught using a pre-determined schedule based on the curriculum. During the public school year, we have classes that meet on five Saturdays. Also, during Christmas Holidays and Spring Break, we offer a condensed program that can be taken in one week. In the summer, classes are one week long with varying hours. Please refer to our current schedules to see available class times.

The 6 hours of private behind-the-wheel instruction is conducted in our dual-brake vehicles. All driving times are by appointment in 2-3 hour sessions. We will pick the student up and drop him/her off anywhere in Muscogee County for each of the 3 lessons.

Unlike any other training program being offered, we concentrate on collision prevention. With the understanding that only 10% of the driving task consists of the physical ability of accelerating, stopping, and steering the vehicle, time and space management must be taught as a critical component in collision prevention. After 45 years of research and development and through the use of proven techniques, Barber's has engineered the art of collision prevention.

Emphasis is placed on a holistic approach to training which includes the legal, mental, physical, communication, social, financial, and planning aspects of driving. In preparation for this program, our students are given basic eye examinations to measure depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to read road signs. We also include reaction time and judgment examinations.

We teach our students Georgia Traffic Law from A-Z, a comprehensive look at Georgia Traffic Law and the application of each of these laws. This lesson answers the question of why we must live by rule and order on the highway.

We use a variety of teaching techniques developed by Barber's to teach the basics of defensive driving. One such technique is the use of acronyms. RACE teaches students a viable method of preventing conflict:

Orderly Visual Search patterns are taught to insure that each beginning driver will scan the 360 degree perimeter around their vehicle at all times. It is a fact; you first must see the conflict before you can choose a plan to avoid a collision.

Instruction is given on the dangers of distracted, impaired, fatigued, and aggressive driving behaviors, with proven methods given on dealing with these and other human behaviors that cause havoc on our roadways.

Proper procedures are taught for all physical maneuvers on the highway: stopping, steering, turning, backing, parking, turn-a-bouts, merging, and lane changing in city, rural, and interstate driving situations.

Emergency driving solutions are presented to all students that include, but are not limited to, hydroplaning, edging off the road, rollovers, brake failure, stuck accelerator, car-jacking, blow-outs, facing another driver with road-rage, and the vehicle submerged underwater.

Included in our program is a general vehicle inspection and maintenance program that will give your teen the general knowledge needed to check and insure their vehicle's top performance. This lesson includes: vehicle pre-trip, under-the-hood checks, and tire changing. In our Laboratory Hands-on Training segment, we teach key concepts in purchasing a new or used vehicle, fuel conservation techniques, and insuring your vehicle.

When the student has completed our full Driver Education program they are eligible to take the Georgia Road Test. Because of Barber's Driving School's excellent record, we are licensed by the State of Georgia to administer the road test. When the student passes this test, we will issue a Certificate to be taken to the State of Georgia License Bureau to receive their license.

Driver Education is only designed to teach fundamental skills and knowledge. Good judgment only comes from experience.

You can take the 30-6 Driver Education program or just behind-the-wheel.
